The California Department of Education is supporting Universal PreKindergarten implementers in their work to design and communicate about their Universal PreK programs with partners, families, and communities. The following materials have been produced to help you in this work:
Family and community engagement
These materials are designed for county offices of education, districts and community organizations who operate California State PreKindergarten Programs, Head Starts and Transitional Kindergarten (TK) programs, as well as other interested community partners, to tailor and use with families to help them understand what UPK is, the choices that may be available to them, how to check their eligibility, and how to enroll their children.
- Slide Deck: Key information for families and community members
- Talking points to accompany the slide deck
- Two-pager: Key information for families and community members (General Focus or TK Focus)
- Translations of the slide deck, talking points, and two-pager into the top written languages used in California
- Communications Toolkit, including guidance for promoting UPK programs on social media, in newsletters and e-blasts, and on websites
